It was a well known to most of the people that Verizon was working constantly on android tablets for some time now. But there was no idea as to what the release dates of the tablets would be. It was recently that the CEO of Verizon Wireless Lowell McAdam announced it. He mentioned it clearly that customers can expect these Android devices from manufacturers such as Motorola, Samsung and LG. These tablets are designed so as to provide stiff competition to Apple’s iPad.

Verizon is pretty sure about these tablets and expects to steal the show in the fourth quarter when these devices will be launched. Though there have been no specification released or mentioned about these new tablets, some standard equipments are expected in them. The manufacturers are expected to make use of the next generation processors and the tablets would run on a minimum of Android 2.2 (froyo) version.

Most of these tablets are expected to feature the ARM-based cores such as the excellent new processor by NVIDIA, the NVIDIA Tegra 2. But the option of some Intel based processors can never be ruled out too. These devices could spring up some surprises with the inclusion of 4G as well.  The reason is that Verizon has made it clear that it would bring out five 4G LTE devices. Verizon has been testing its LTE networks and thus it is expected that the tablets may bring in an element of surprise. The handsets for LTE 4G services will be covered by the likes of Samsung, Motorola, LG and RIM as Verizon is estimating to cover 30 markets with over 100 million people.
